Counselor

Our school counselor works with students to help develop academic and social skills in order to succeed in school. Through the guidance program, the counselor will help in areas dealing with emotional, personal, and educational struggles. Some of the main goals throughout the year are the focusing of:

  1. Self-esteem development
  2. Motivation to Achieve
  3. Decision Making and Problem Solving
  4. Interpersonal Effectiveness
  5. Communication Skills
  6. Cross-cultural effectiveness 
  7. Responsible behavior



St. Mary Magdalene has cultivated the Love and Logic approach:

SMMCS is using love and logic as a lifestyle of teaching our students to be ready for the real world. We use this approach to help keep oneself healthy and non reactive which allows us to build loving and trusting relationships with one another. 
Love and Logic allows us to use a whole lot of empathy and let the logical consequences do the teachings without anger or yelling. 
Love and Logic helps students  develop personal responsibility, self control and good decision making skills.
 The main focus is nurturing long term relationships and reinforcing good character.
Mrs. Valladares offers Love and Logic parenting classes in the Fall and Spring semester.
